Nothing if not determined, Kurogane kept digging, tracking down everyone who had been involved in family dealings from that period of time - in doing so, however, he began coming across his father's personal agents, old money trails that had been purposely covered up, and eventually he was led back to the medical company that had supposedly removed his tumor. Once there, though, Kurogane opened Pandora's Box - in digging through the company records he began to come across the exact same findings that his father had, making the exact same conclusions and following it further until he began to come across test results, video records, subject reports, and eventually his sister.

Upon finally reaching the end of the trail, something in Kurogane broke - his soul, his humanity, his conscience, whatever you might call it, but the person he was ceased to be. Closing all of the records he'd found, Kurogane erased his tracks in the same manner his father had, eliminating the people that they both had access to who had known what Kurogane was doing - and then he waited as if nothing had happened. If there were any lessons that Kurogane had agreed with, it was the fact that patience was a virtue, and that you never struck an opponent from the front if you could avoid it..... and that anger, real, true anger, rage and wrath was cold, not hot, and made for an excellent motivational tool. Another year would pass before Kurogane finally made his move - during the family dinner that night he slipped a slow acting paralytic into his father's meal, one that would go unnoticed for several hours until it took effect. When it did, Kurogane was there and ready - entering the man's bedroom, it was no problem for him to lift the man out of his bed and drop him on the floor to wake him, and thanks to the poison in his meal Genryu was unable to move or call out, but able to see, hear and feel everything. In going back to the place he'd been "cured", Kurogane had made sure to obtain one thing before he left - a sample of the nanite strain that had been responsible for his sister's death, and before doing anything Kurogane made it completely clear to Genryu why he was doing what he did. When the housecleaners found Genryu's body in the morning, he was back in bed as if nothing had happened, with the coroners declaring it a death of natural causes - with the nanites having expelled the paralytic from the man's body and then having broken down after death, no one was any the wiser.

Having claimed revenge on his father, Kurogane didn't stop there. Immediately following ascension to the position of family head and assuming the title of the Broker, he immediately began hunting down everyone who had been involved with the incident - his father's closest agents, many of the scientists, the board members of the company, even the driver who had been paid to put his sister in the hospital, and by the time Kurogane was through cleaning house the organization was truly his in every sense of the word.
